FertiStream DMCC signs agreement to acquire Nutrisource PTE Ltd., including its Togo fertilizer blending plant Nutrisource Togo SARL.
FertiStream DMCC (hereafter “FertiStream”), a leading global fertilizer trader and distributor, announces that on June 19, 2024, it signed an agreement to purchase a 100% share in Nutrisource PTE Ltd. (hereafter “Nutrisource”), a Singapore-based holding company with fertilizer assets on the African continent, including a newly built fertilizer blending facility in Togo with an annual capacity of up to 200,000 metric tons. This acquisition further strengthens FertiStream’s regional footprint in emerging fertilizer markets and underlines its commitment to African agriculture.
The plant is designed by EMT, a Dutch company specialized in blending, bagging, and transport equipment, and the production process is fully mechanized and automated, allowing to produce fertilizer blends, including NPKs with high phosphate content, which are in demand in the region. With 60,000 metric tons storage for raw materials, 30,000 metric tons storage for finished goods, and a quality control laboratory, the plant will provide the region with a stable local supply of high-quality fertilizers.
The facility is located 22 km north of the port of Lome, a deep-water port in the West Africa region that can accommodate Supramax vessels, allowing for streamlined fertilizer supply across all nutrient groups to Togo and neighboring countries, including Burkina Faso, Ghana, Niger, Benin, and Mali.
Imane Belrhiti, Head of Business Development Africa & Middle East at FertiStream, will assume the role of the Chairman of the Board. Imane is a seasoned and well-respected fertilizer professional with over 14 years of relevant experience, including previous VP level roles at OCP. Within the next few months, the FertiStream team led by Imane will be working on operational matters and personnel assignments to commence the production of blended NPK fertilizers in the fourth quarter of 2024.
